The Making of Jewels

To visualize the result of the cooperation between the local industry and designers the exhibition ‘Jewels and Joules’ is accompanied by a special photo report visualizing the entire production process in a readily comprehensible way. Highest technologies or not, production of conceptual design means - by definition - 'crafts'. Photography is done by: Mike Roelofs and Raoul Kramer.

It is a big advantage for local designers to work with the regional industry. “If we need a model in the morning, we can pick it up in the evening,” says a designer from Eindhoven, who participates in the exhibition. Another designer makes use of the machinery in the metal foundry that he is doing business with. In this way, he has gained a great deal of knowledge about the processing of metal and the technical possibilities, which in turn leads to new products.

Van der Hoorn Buigtechniek | Vormkatoen
Not only does Van der Hoorn Buigtechniek bend the famous Dutch bike stands, they also work with students and graduates from Design Academy Eindhoven. The Vormkatoen bench is a typical piece of work for Van der Hoorn Buigtechniek.
